Movie Review #1

If I Stay
One of Mia's happiest moments with Adam

Mia has it all. A talent that gained her an acceptance to Juillliard, a loving family yet outgoing and supportive and a guy who loves her for who she is. But for what seemed like an instant, a family trip turned her life upside down and left her juggling with a decision that might just decide her ultimate fate. Caught between life and death for one revealing day, Mia had the chance to find out that happiness was much more than being surrounded by your family, that family love has no boundaries, and no written specific people to be with. Mia found out that she was completely oblivious of the people surrounding her that still requires her presence. She might just wake up as an orphan but it seems that more space is opened up to be filled with new people who love her aside from her family.

On the other hand, another theme that was portrayed was the sacrifice of a father in ensuring their children succeed in life. Being in a band was everything Mia's dad ever wanted, it was more of a passion rather than doing it for financial purposes. He was just inexplicably into it but not being able to exceed his love towards her daughter, Mia. He saw how Mia insists on playing a cello, how passionate she was as he was in his band. He could see where she got that from. From that moment on, he wanted nothing else except to see Mia pursue her dreams. He quit his band and became a teacher so he was financially stable just so she could pay more attention to his daughter. This eventually resulted in Mia's amazing performance in her audition applying for Juilliard that somehow approves her application among the other applicants.

To be frank, I personally think this film conveys such a message that should be kept in our mind and hearts
